Need Installation?

The following is a brief explanation of how to understand / find what assembly or installation effort is needed for any given product and what your options might include.

Every product page in the "Product Details"  section gives information to help you understand what is required in the installation or assembly of the specific product.

An example of a "Product Details" section is shown below for the GT2003E, Lawn & Garden Rack with explanations of the information given.

Final Product Details

A.  Assembly Required:  Yes or No

No -  Pretty clear, you take the purchased item out of the carton and the decision is to decide where to install the item(s) most convenient for you planned use.

Yes - Oh, Oh, go to the Assembly Degree of Difficulty heading below and see what is in store for you.

B. Assembly Degree of Difficulty: Not Applicable, Minor, Moderate and Difficult

Not Applicable - No worry, no assembly required, per above.

Minor - The subjective element here is the assembly / installation time which is estimated to be less than 15 minutes for anyone owning a screw driver or a pair of pliers. A link to the Assembly Instructions page is given for your reference.

The above GT2003E example involves screwing a cover onto the rack.

Moderate -  The subjective element here is the assembly / installation time which is estimated to be less than 1 - 1 1/2 hrs. and owning any suggested hand power tools would be helpful when assembling or installing. Usually as much time is spent reading the instructions as doing the actual assembly. Again, a link to the Assembly Instructions page is given.

Maybe you don't have the time or inclination to do any assembly. (I personally do not like doing projects  involving ceiling work; I find it very tiring and am not as steady on a ladder as I used to be.) Several options for you include:

1. Hiring a local handyman is always a good option. If possible, group several "to do" projects you need done and have him quote them to be done all at once. This will reduce the cost by spreading his travel time over several items to be done. Local handymen can be found in your community newspaper, usually under the heading, Home Improvement.

2. Another option is to use a web directory like ServiceMagic. One of their main categories on the home page is HandyMan Services.

3. If you live in an area where a GarageTek dealer is located, we encourage you to call the dealer for any additional service. Go to the GarageTek Website and input your area code to check availability.

Difficult - No products are planned to be added to the store catalog that would require this skill set.

C. Other  Installation Considerations

If the accessory is part of a system, that is stated here and what is required.  In the example of the GT2003E above, this rack requires wall panel or trak for mounting.

A free standing desk or workbench requires nothing else and this section would state "None".
